It's amusing when a swan shows off, to upstage a sprinkling of fuzzy ducklings. It was a close contest...but the sun helped illuminate the answer.

The Pinkish, Purpleish, Bluish Egg is an example of the creativity that is so lacking in much of our low-reaching children's lit. Also read a lot of fairy tales, Bullfinch's Mythology, and Shel Silverstein who showed all his little readers that a line drawing is more mesmerizing than CGI, any day (times 1,000,000).
